Jessica Hough

Jessica Hough brings over 25 years of leadership experience in non-profit arts institutions and as a curator of both art and history exhibitions.

Since 2018, she has been a consultant for museums, historic sites, and civic organizations in Los Angeles working on a range of exhibitions, interpretive projects, and strategic planning initiatives, many with a social justice focus. Previously, she served as Director of Exhibitions at the California Historical Society where she initiated the multi-platform project ¡Murales Rebeldes! L.A. Chicana/o Murals under Siege, and created a dynamic exhibition program that dramatically increased visitorship. She has also held positions at the Hammer Museum, the Mills College Art Museum, and The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.

Among her many interests are elevating community murals as a source of social and cultural history, preserving artist’s archives, building exhibition audiences outside of museums, and supporting female-identifying artists at mid-career. Jessica received her undergraduate degree in Art History from Occidental College and her MA in Curatorial Studies from Bard College. She is a graduate of the Getty Leadership Institute.

Hough grew up in Philadelphia where her love of art, history, and museums was fostered. She looks forward to returning to the East Coast and rejoining the arts community in the region.
