Barb Quinby

As a self-described life-long learner, Barb is a graduate of Syracuse University with a master’s in social work administration and planning and a minor in gerontology.

When Barb relocated to Maine, she served as director of a retired senior volunteer program where she dreamed of being a literacy volunteer when she herself retired “someday.” But when her son started to learn to read in school, Barb said to herself, “I don’t need to wait until I retire to help struggling readers learn to read, I can go back to school to study literacy.” So while living and working full-time in Maine, Barb furthered her education with a master’s in education, obtaining a Literacy Specialist degree at the University of Maine. All the while, Barb built an amazing and diverse career in human resources and risk management at the third largest non-profit healthcare system in Maine.

Ever feeling the draw of Bucks County where she grew up, Barb returned to the area nine years ago and lives next to Upper Tinicum Farms which has been in her family for over five generations. Barb enjoys traveling, practicing yoga and meditation, open water swimming — especially around the Greek Isles in the Ionian Sea! — and spending time with family.
