ARTYARD’S HATCH 1
September 4th, 2016
The community gathers to build bird masks and costumes for the event.
A gigantic egg sculpture was designed and built under the artistic direction of Eliot Bassett-Cann.
Chris Alferman welded the structure with great love and care.
Friends aged 8 to 94 helped us paint the egg.
A group of remarkable people transported the structure to ArtYard’s old Hatchery building.
At 4:30 PM on September 4th, 2016, a parade of birds hatched from our giant egg and walked down the rail trail to ArtYard’s gallery for the opening of our inaugural show. Sweet Lee played the soprano saxophone during the parade.
