This short film was created for Re/Bound, ArtYard’s series of original short object-performance films about springing back, created in 10 days using the materials of paper, wire and water.
Hyung Seok (pronounced: he-young-suk) Jeon is a video designer and a performance maker from South Korea based in NYC. He incorporates movement, object manipulation and live-feed video to create non-linear performance pieces that often centers around notions of self and self-reflection. His work has been shared at BAC, Abrons Arts Center, Gibney Theatre, MANCC, Mabou Mines Theatre, HERE Arts, Theatre Lab, BKSD, Chez Bushwick, Dixon Place. In 2018, he created and performed an hour length solo piece ‘A Held Posture’, a meditation on generational loss in relation to sensation of sinking into deep water. His solo work ‘Deep Out Agents’ juxtaposed still life imagery with the physicality of two Asian men. It was curated by Tei Blow and was shared at Gibney Double Plus program December 2019. Recently he video designed David Neumann and Marcella Murray’s ‘Distances Smaller Than This Are Not Confirmed’ which premiered at Abrons Arts Center January 2020. He is a recipient of the 2015 Fulbright graduate study award.
