Tiny Talk: Dutch Cooke of Flying Dutchman Tattoo
Tattoo artist Dutch Cooke shares his creative inspiration as part of ArtYard’s Tiny Talk series on Thurs., Sept. 5 during our Late Shift hours.
Dutch is the artist behind the elaborate embroidery tattoo documented in Cultural Reminders: Lineage, part of Diseñando Masculinidades, on view through Sept. 22. In the video work, artist José Villalobos employs his body as a medium to explore themes of identity and cultural heritage. The act is a tribute to Villalobos’ father and is inspired by the design on the yoke of his father’s shirt.
During the 20-minute talk, Dutch will share about the art of his craft among the works in Diseñando Masculinidades. In opening his Flying Dutchman Tattoo Parlor in Easton, PA, Dutch envisioned creating a space where clients can be a part of a supportive design process and fellow artists can flourish and grow.
Stop by after 5 for a glass of wine, meet fellow art lovers, and explore our current exhibitions. The talk begins at 6 PM.
