Late Shift: Films for Friends ‘Ezra’ Screening with Studio Route 29

Jun 20, 2024

Join us during ArtYard’s Late Shift hours on Thursday, June 20 for a special evening featuring a screening of the new film Ezra with producer Bill Horberg. The screening is hosted by Studio Route 29 and is part of its Film For Friends series.

Ezra stars Bobby Cannavale as a father who takes his autistic son, played by newcomer William A. Fitzgerald, on a cross-country road trip.

The film is produced by Horberg, a film executive with Frenchtown ties known for his work on movies Ghost, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and Cold Mountain, and the streaming TV series The Queen’s Gambit.

Horberg will be joined at the screening by Studio Route 29 film correspondent and curator Theo Baransky, who launched the Film for Friends series and is deeply interested in film production and distribution companies. Baransky has conducted several interviews with film industry professionals.

Stop by ArtYard’s Laborator Gallery after 5 PM for music and refreshments. Seating for the film, in the McDonnell Theater, begins at 6 PM. The screening kicks off at 6:30 PM with an interview between Horberg and Baransky and the debut of BJ Armour’s newest music video.

Registration is requested. Donations to support Studio Route 29’s programming are graciously welcomed!

A touching portrait of family and friendship, EZRA follows Max Bernal (Bobby Cannavale), a stand-up comedian living with his father (Robert De Niro), while struggling to co-parent his autistic son Ezra (introducing William Fitzgerald) with his ex-wife (Rose Byrne). When forced to confront difficult decisions about their son’s future, Max and Ezra embark on a cross-country road trip that has a transcendent impact on both their lives. Directed by Tony Goldwyn, who also appears in the film alongside additional cast members Vera Farmiga, Rainn Wilson and Whoopi Goldberg, Ezra is an endearing and often funny exploration of a family determined to find their way through life’s complexities with humor, compassion, and heart.
