Creative People for Peace: Theatre of Cultural Resistance Workshop
Join us on the winter solstice to beckon the season’s rhythms, cycles, and intentions as we engage our bodies in movement exercises on the McDonnell Theater stage.
In this introductory workshop, we will begin with movement, working to identify each individual body and its potential for acting in the space. Then we will work towards creating a group dynamic, the group being a necessary vessel for cultural transmission. Finally, we will explore resistance through the body – the body of the individual, the body of the group, and the body of a chosen text.
Participants should wear athletic, plain black clothing (no logos, words, or images).
Creative People for Peace (CP4P) develops and tours new, original works with talented artists from around the world inspired by cultures in crisis due to political conflict or ecological disaster and provides community outreach to refugee communities through trauma-informed storytelling workshops, masterclasses, and reduced admission to its performances.
