Lucia Thomé

Lucia Thomé currently heads Operations and Design for a Philadelphia-based design-build firm, Osborne Construction. Previously she was a Director of RAIR, a non-profit artist residency housed within a construction and demolition recycling center. Over the past 13 years, and in-and-around her full-time jobs, she has been working as an artist, an art handler, artist fabricator in Philadelphia. Thomé is a former member of the Philadelphia-based artist collective Traction Company. She has had solo exhibitions of artworks with LMNL, Napoleon, and Marginal Utility (works made in collaboration with Mariel Capanna). Thomé was a Fellow at Socrates Sculpture Park in 2019 and was commissioned by ArtYard to produce an outdoor sculptural installation in 2020 as part of “Shelter Is” curated by Lucinda Warchol. She was recently invited to curate a 2023 exhibition “Sequencing” at Icebox Project Space.

Barrier is Pomerantz and Thome’s second curatorial collaboration. Their first collaboration, Site to be Seen, brought artists together to consider history and futures of a remediated Metals Bank Superfund Site in North East Philadelphia. Site to be Seen was a project of RAIR Philly, supported by Pew Arts and Heritage.
