Effective Immediately: March 12, 2020
Dear Friends of ArtYard,
As COVID-19 cases spread in our region, we wanted to let you know that we share your concerns and are taking this matter seriously. The health and well-being of ArtYard’s audiences, artists, and staff are of the utmost priority to us as is the health and wellbeing of the larger community in which we reside and serve.
We have been following guidelines provided by the CDC, the State of New Jersey and County and Local Health Officials. We believe, as a public gathering place – which can seat 120 individuals and a gallery that can accommodate several hundred visitors – we want to demonstrate leadership in helping to prevent the potential spread of the virus. By acting now, we believe we can proactively prevent the pandemic from having unintended consequences among our patrons and the broader community.
We have therefore decided to close ArtYard for the remainder of March 2020. All concerts, films, workshops and exhibition events are being postponed. ArtYard’s theatre and gallery spaces will be closed through March 2020. We will continue to monitor the situation and will post periodic updates regarding future events.
TICKET HOLDERS and WORKSHOP REGISTRANTS:
ArtYard intends to reschedule the following events, and we encourage ticket holders to stay tuned for future event dates. Should we be unable to reschedule, or should a ticketholder be unable to attend at the newly scheduled date, we will issue a refund based on our standard policy for unanticipated events. We will be communicating directly with all patrons of the following events:
Saturday, March 14, 2020:
The InBetweens Concert
Wednesday, March 25, 2020:
Lotte Reiniger, Film
Saturday, March 28, 2020:
Neurons, Needles & Thread Punch Needle Workshop
An Evening Celebrating Lotte Reiniger, Film
Gallery Walk with Elsa Mora
Reflections of Stigma – Art Exhibition, In Collaboration with the Stigma Free Task Force.
We will continually monitor the situation and provide updates regarding events scheduled in April and beyond.
As a building with a restaurant within the building, we already adhere to the strictest health code standards throughout our spaces. In light of the current situation, we are following the guidelines provided by the CDC and public health officials and have undertaken the following additional measures:
- Doubled our cleaning efforts, disinfecting all public shared spaces. All surfaces—door handles, tables, seats, cash registers, phones—are wiped down daily with anti-bacterial cleaners.
- We also encourage everyone to wash their hands regularly for at least 20 seconds at a time.
- All staff is minimizing direct contact with patrons and washing hands regularly. If a staff member exhibits symptoms of any kind or has reason to believe they have been exposed to the virus, they will stay home and not come to work. We encourage patrons to do the same. We will update our website, send out emails, and contact all ticket buyers should there be any changes in the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued support of ArtYard. We look forward to seeing you here soon! Sincerely,
Jill Kearney, Executive Director and Kandy Ferree, Managing Director
