We are thrilled to announce two recent staff role changes and two new open positions at ArtYard.

Ulla Warchol, of Bucks County, stepped into a new role as Head Preparator at ArtYard in January. In the newly created position, Ulla directs the design, fabrication, installation, and de-installation of ArtYard’s exhibitions.

Ulla has supported the growth and development of ArtYard over the past seven years, serving as Board Trustee for the last six, curating two exhibitions, and lending her professional and creative talents to help effect numerous ArtYard initiatives and install nearly 30 exhibitions. Ulla is curator of the upcoming exhibition, Soft as Earth, and she co-curated in 2021 with Robin Hill Going to the Meadow, an exhibition bringing together 16 artists-in-residence in groups of four to explore the essence of collaboration. She designed and built the Reading Room at the Bridge Street Residency and has worked extensively as a collaborator and thought partner to artists-in-residence, including Jose Villalobos, Natale de Segonzac, and Alexandre Arrechea.

Trained as an architect at The Cooper Union, Ulla worked in the field while developing a multidisciplinary approach to structure. She leans toward an open-ended exploration of materials and techniques in both large-scale works — interiors, buildings and set design — and small-scale works — books, fabrication, and collaborations with artists. She is the co-author, with her mother Hedi Kyle, of The Art of the Fold (Laurence King Publishing 2018), a step-by-step guide to making a broad selection of Kyle’s original book structures.

Sandra Dillon, who joined ArtYard as Theater & Gallery Technician last spring, recently transitioned into a full-time role. As Theater & Gallery Technician, Sandra assists in various technical functions in ArtYard’s McDonnell Theater, including running lighting and audio, and supports exhibition installation and de-installation. In addition, she also produces and edits event documentation and social media content.

Sandra is an artist, video editor, director, and performer. Trained as a painter at the Beaux-Arts and Fine Arts at Parsons Paris, she was a photography assistant and stylist in the fashion industry and later a camera assistant on feature films. She went on to work as a video editor, sound designer, and director working on commercials, feature films, and TV shows for advertising agencies and post houses in the NYC and Philadelphia metro areas. Prior to ArtYard, she operated The Art Parlour Gallery in Frenchtown, where she curated 16 art shows in two years featuring works by hundreds of artists. A Frenchtown resident, Sandra co-founded the comedic duo The Heavy Meddlers and founded Frenchtown’s own Mer-folk March.

In addition, ArtYard is currently hiring for two positions, Facilities Management Consultant and Facilities/Maintenance Supervisor. To learn more, please visit our jobs page.
