Pavel Urkiza is an internationally known musician, composer, producer, and arranger. A mix of Afro, Cuban, and Ibero- American flavors are evident in his guitar playing and vocals. The result is a Caribbean-Mediterranean rhythm with a singular Cuban swing.

He composed the music that accompanies the book Island in the Light, a compilation that pairs contemporary Cuban visual art and literature by having 30 prominent writers respond to the works of 35 renowned artists. He collaborated with the contemporary artist Alexandre Arrechea in two audiovisual pieces, Matter Fall and The Face of the Nation.
