Pavel Urkiza is an internationally known musician, composer, producer, and arranger. He is an artist with a deep connection to world musical cultures drawing from his Cuban heritage and 22 years of musical experience in the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands. A mix of Afro, Cuban, and Ibero- American flavors are evident in his guitar playing and vocals. The result is a Caribbean-Mediterranean rhythm with a singular Cuban swing.

Urkiza has published more than 40 compositions, and his most recent monumental production is the music documentary, La Ruta de las Almas (The Road of the Souls), a film illustrating the ancestral connections of music from the Ibero-American region. He composed the music that accompanies the book Island in the Light, a compilation that pairs contemporary Cuban visual art and literature by having 30 prominent writers respond to the works of 35 renowned artists. He collaborated with the contemporary artist Alexandre Arrechea in two audiovisual pieces, Matter Fall and The Face of the Nation.
