Fred Lowe is a poet and psychotherapist who divides the year between a riverbank home in Frenchtown, New Jersey and a house in the settlement of Halls Mills, located in coastal (and extremely rural) Washington County, Maine.

Over a twenty-year period, he has published poetry and translations in River Styx, The Beloit Poetry Journal, The Maine Times, The Aputamkon Review, and many others. Recent appearances  include Contemporary Haibun On-line, US 1 Worksheets, Off The Coast, and Glitterwolf.

In the mid-1980’s, Fred Lowe collaborated with the painter and printmaker Richard Kirk Mills on a folio, Intimate Views . . .from Away, that explored the coast of Eastern Maine. The folio was widely exhibited in Philadelphia, Maine, and New York City. In 2003, he produced a chapbook for AlphaBeat, FL’s Down-Home Un-Chicken Chowder, collaborating with the print maker and photo-collagist Will Hübscher. Fred is a past recipient of a poetry fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and a Pushcart Prize nominee.

In 2014, the trio of Val Sivilli (printmaker/designer/painter), Ulla Warchol (book fabricator), and Fred produced an hand-constructed artists book Singing Head –scroll through the site to see and read more about the project.
