Anita Jacobs

Anita Jacobs is most at home with globs of glue on her clothes, flour on her hands, and twigs in her hair. Having designed and taught creative workshops for children, teens, and adults for many years, she is frequently drawn to materials from the natural world as well as recycled or found objects.  She is an avid gardener, an animal obsessive, and an appreciator of the ridiculous.

As Director of Public Programs at Brooklyn Botanic Garden for 18 years, Anita curated and produced some of New York City’s most quirky and unique outdoor festivals and events. At Sakura Matsuri, Chile Pepper Festival, and hundreds of other events, Anita worked to cultivate diverse audiences with original programming featuring global and American roots music, multi-disciplinary arts, and celebrations of culture and food.

In 2019, Anita moved to Bucks County and created the Seymour Jacobs Photography Archive and her production and consulting company Anita Jacobs Arts. Anita, her husband Greg, and daughter Chloe live in Bucks County on the property where, in 1990, her late mother Betsy founded The Tinicum Herb Barn, a craft and garden education center. The family can often be found picking shishito peppers in the garden, roaming the woods for ramps, or carousing with their large fuzz-ball dog Augie.
